Outdoor Fire Place

An outdoor fire place is a great way to dress up your outdoor living space and make it feel more like an extension of your home. It creates a great area to entertain guests or spend a cozy evening as a family.

An outdoor fire place can mean a lot of things depending on what you are looking for and the level of work you are willing to do. First you want to decide on the fuel source.

Wood-burning outdoor fire place: You can have a wood-burning outdoor fire place, which is much the like the traditional indoor fireplace. You would need to either gather or buy fire wood. You would need to chop firewood and store it somewhere on your property. You need to know how to start a fire and safely extinguish a fire. It is distinctly possible you would not be able to use your outdoor fire place if the weather was windy or wet. Wood-burning outdoor fire places are also more dangerous than some of your other options; they must be watched closely.

Natural Gas Outdoor fire place: A natural gas outdoor fire place burns clean. It can be turned on and off with a remote control. The size of the flame can also be adjusted. They can be found in a large variety different styles. They do not require wood, however, you would need a professional to install it, and it would increase your monthly heating bill.

Chimineas: A chiminea looks like a large ceramic pot or vase. It is basically a self-contained outdoor fireplace. They sit up off the ground and the design of the chiminea protects the flame from wind and rain.

The design makes it ideal to use in cold weather, which gives it an advantage over other outdoor fire place options. Although they are typically found in earth tones, they come in a variety of different shapes and sizes.

Propane outdoor fire place: a propane outdoor fire place has all the simplicity and convenience of  a natural gas outdoor fire place, but is less expensive in most areas. Propane is typically less expensive than natural gas. As long as you have a propane supplier in the area, you should be able to use your outdoor fire place without spending a lot of money. Propane outdoor fire places can be built up around a base containing a standard 20-gallon propane tank, or they can be installed with a gas line running to a remote propane tank. One of the benefits of using a larger remote propane tank is that propane is typically cheaper when purchased in large amounts. Propane outdoor fireplaces can be lit using an electric ignition switch, or they can be lit manually. Propane burns cleaner than most other options, which makes them more environmentally friendly.

Electric outdoor fire place: Electric out door fireplaces are great for entertaining. They are typically large impressive looking stone fireplaces. You can find them with built in speakers and stereo systems. They work by remote control, and they are truly hassle free. You don’t have to mess with wood, and you don’t need to have a gas line installed. They are also relatively inexpensive to run.
